The programme also aims to strengthen you and your individual capabilities to meet the requirements of a modern governance structure. As a participant of SAYP, you will be able to expand your own contact networks and share ideas, experiences and challenges with other like-minded professionals. <br /><br />SAYP is a collaboration between Swedish institute and Swedish universities. We will gather 30+ young people from all over Europe for a 3-day YOUthDIG programme (June 8-10, 2020) and <span>EuroDIG</span> (June 11-12, 2020) in which we are going to discuss key topics of Internet governance and policy, network with experts, and draft the 2020 Youth Messages. Notable among these include the zoonotic diseases Coronavirus, Lassa Fever, Tuberculosis, and Rabies, etc., and other animal health diseases such as the Rinderpest in cattle, Swine flu in Pigs, Avian influenza in Poultry and Parvovirus in Dogs. As an added complication, our environmental sustainability is increasingly at risk with the realities of climate changes that include diminishing wildlife and poor conservation, droughts and flooding causing an increasing threat to food security, environmental pollution, poor agricultural practices, and incessant natural disasters. The inter-connectivity of these human, animal and environmental issues demands an urgent need for a holistic and cohesive approach to proffered sustainable solutions. One Health which “promotes multi-sectoral and trans-disciplinary collaborations to achieving optimal health outcomes between animals, humans, plants and their shared environment” has been verified as this sustainable approach. In Nigeria, the One Health approach is even more pertinent because of our failing systems in health and development and the seeming segregation of allied health professions which limits collaboration among professionals. In addition, the growing movement of One Health – though being touted globally is yet to receive the adequate and necessary attention and momentum in the general Nigerian public. Therefore, there is a need for widespread information, education and integrated advocacy on solving health and development issues through the One Health approach among related sectors and by extension, the general public.<br /> <strong>One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI)</strong><br /> One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI) is a nonprofit organization that works to promote news, education, advocacy and solutions to interrelated issues of animal, human and ecosystem health through an integrated One Health approach. The Regional Workshop will be the first science diplomacy workshop to be held in the Asia and the Pacific Region. This workshop will provide participants an insight into key contemporary international and regional science policy issues including global health, future studies, disaster risk reduction, and water management, among others, while intimating how science, technology, and innovation contribute to policy developments, global governance and sustainable development of communities around the world. Another focus of the workshop is to gain a better understanding of, and appreciation for, the roles that governments, academia, international organisations and the private sector play in addressing complex science-based issues and how different governance structures are developed to address the needs and involvement of these different stakeholders. Finally, the workshop will take stock of science diplomacy case studies and experiences in the various forms that they take in the region and build strong networks to foster the next generation of science diplomats in the region. The theme of the Fellowship 2020 is <span>“Building peace in the age of new media”</span>.<div></div><div>In its Action Plan for 2019-2023, UNAOC acknowledges that traditional and new media play a crucial role in influencing public perception, narratives, and attitudes and therefore hold the potential to bridge cultural divides. The 2020 UNAOC Fellowship also aims to contribute to the global conversation launched by the UN for it 75th anniversary.</div><div>To be selected, candidates must be able to present professional achievements in the fields of media, social media and peacebuilding, with knowledge of the UN system. The Call will lead to the selection of a group of young leaders from Europe, North-America (EUNA) on one end, and a group of young leaders from the Middle East and North-Africa (MENA) on the other end. Participants from each geographic area will travel to their counterparts’ region for two weeks.</div><div>The goal of the Fellowship is to challenge perceptions and deconstruct stereotypes by providing participants with first hand exposure to cultural diversity. The competition is based on the premise that a shortage of funding for critical research is one of the problems faced by Africa-based scholars and activists wishing to carry forward a political economy agenda. In response to this, ROAPE is offering up to two small research grants (value £3000). The process of selection of proposals, as well as their expected format, is outlined below.</div><div>ROAPE is a refereed journal committed to encouraging high quality research and fostering excellence in the understanding of African political economy. A political economy approach entails a critical understanding of the social relationships, particularly the power relationships, that mutually constitute the production, distribution and consumption of resources. It requires us to ask who produces what and for whom and hence an investigation into social relations that are generated by struggles over livelihoods and exploitation of the many by the few. Radical political economy represents a form of engagement with those struggles.</div><div>ROAPE is listed in the Thomson Reuters Social Sciences Citation Index and published quarterly by Taylor & Francis. Since 1974 it has provided radical analysis of trends, issues and social processes in Africa, adopting a broadly materialist interpretation of change. It has paid particular attention to the political economy of inequality, exploitation and oppression and struggles against them, whether driven by global forces or local ones such as class, race, community and gender.
